Web design in Darlington
A local web designer who tells you what your website needs, and what it doesn’t
I’m David, and I’ve been building websites for Darlington businesses since 2013. I start with a free review of your current site, then fix it or build you a new one at a fixed price.
What I do
- Free website reviews: how your site works on a phone, Google’s speed test, how Google sees you and what stops people getting in touch
- Quick fixes to an existing website, usually within 24 hours
- New websites built for phones first, ready within 3 working days of getting your content
- Photography of your premises, including drone photos, from my drone business Eye in the Sky
- Hosting and care, so there’s always someone local to call
Prices
New website £595 (relaunch price until 31 December 2026)
Or £79 a month, nothing upfront
Quick fixes £199
Care plan £40 a month
UK freelance web designers typically charge £1,500–£3,000 for a 5–10 page business website (source). I do every part myself, with over 20 years in IT and no agency overheads, so I charge about half the usual. Here’s how.
All pricesWho I build for
Mostly small, owner-run businesses where the website needs to bring in bookings, calls or enquiries.
Guest houses and B&Bs
More direct bookings, less commission to booking sites.
Catteries, kennels and groomers
Booking requests online, with my own booking systems if you want one.
Trades and builders
Tap-to-call, quote forms and your best work on show.

Common questions
Are you actually based in Darlington?
Yes. Darlington Design has been building websites for local businesses since 2013, and I’m happy to come and see you, or talk on the phone if that’s easier.
Which areas do you cover?
Darlington and anywhere within about an hour: County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. The website work itself can be done for any UK business; visits and photo shoots are local.
How quickly can you build a website?
Within 3 working days of getting your words and photos, with time for a round of changes. Quick fixes to an existing site are usually done within 24 hours.
Can I update the website myself?
If you’d like to, yes. Most owners prefer to send me changes instead; the care plan includes small changes every month.
